I'm Earick Fairchild, a Network Administrator based in Draper, Utah. I work Tier II IP Operations for DISA core MPLS circuits and JRSS infrastructure, and I spend most of my day in the gap between "the link is down" and "the link is back" — triage, packet captures, routing and firewall faults, and the cleanup that follows.
Tooling
MPLS with L2VPN and L3VPN services, BGP and OSPF, VLANs and HSRP on Cisco ASR 9000 and Juniper MX480 platforms, plus Palo Alto firewalls, F5 BIG-IP load balancers, and Gigamon taps. For visibility I lean on Wireshark, tcpdump, NetCool, InfoVista, ELK, and SolarWinds, and I automate the repetitive parts with Python, Bash, and Ansible.
Background
6+ years of DoD IT experience, starting with electronics and building automation in the Utah Army National Guard, then Tier II support for the Air Force, site lead on NMCI modernization deployments for the Navy and Marine Corps, and now network operations at Hill AFB. I hold an active Secret clearance and CompTIA Security+ CE.
